7 days and counting...

One week from now, we will just have all settled in on our Air France flight from Houston to Paris--the adventure will have begun! If we could list all the things we need to do between now and then, we might have a prayer of actually getting them done, but instead we'll just continue the hurry-scurry of trying to:

• come up with a packing list
• learn Russian
• do a packing 'dry run' to see if it all fits in our bags
• remember all the things we've forgotten to pack and do
• load up our mp3 players
  
• learn Ukrainian
• determine the best way to get to the airport
• have a 4th of July party
• mow the grass (if it ever stops raining)
• brush up on French for the flights over and back
• get some sleep
• a thousand and one other things
  
• get ready to enjoy the trip of a lifetime
• remember why we're doing all this
  

I'm convinced right now that the most important thing on the list is the last, as if there was any doubt. In a week, whether ready or not, we'll be on our way to meet our new child, chosen for us by God from before the foundation of the world. How exciting is that? Kinda makes all the rest of the list pale in importance, lessens the anxiety, and brings everything into focus. It's good to have a focus check from time to time...especially when things are getting crazy.
